Technology Talent Admission Scheme for Companies Subsidised under the New Industrialisation Acceleration Scheme (TechTAS-NIAS)

The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) has implemented the “New Industrialisation Acceleration Scheme” (NIAS) to promote the development of new industrialisation for the downstream sector by providing financial assistance to encourage enterprises from industries of strategic importance (i.e. life and health technology, AI and data science, and advanced manufacturing and new energy technologies) in setting up new smart production facilities in Hong Kong. Recognising the manpower need of enterprises under the NIAS, especially that at the technician level, we consider it necessary to establish a separate category for these enterprises under the Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS) (i.e. TechTAS-NIAS) to flexibly allow them to employ non-local technical personnel who possess the required skills/know-how and relevant experience in setting up and operating new production facilities to work in Hong Kong. By allotting quotas for admitting the technical personnel to these enterprises, they are provided with certainty to proceed with their plans for procurement, installation and operation of necessary equipment and machinery in Hong Kong.
