Calibration Services
Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration: Ultrasound Transducer, Ultrasonic Flaw Detector
Ultrasonic Transducers
Ultrasonic transducers or ultrasonic sensors are a type of acoustic sensor which can be generally classified into transmitters, receivers and transceivers. Transmitters convert electrical signals into ultrasound, receivers convert ultrasound into electrical signals, and transceivers can both transmit and receive ultrasound. The Ultrasound Laboratory of the SCL provides calibration services on ultrasonic transducers covering the determination of radiated ultrasonic power and radiation conductance at the frequency range from 1 MHz to 20 MHz, by the radiation force balance method in accordance with the International Standard IEC 61161:2013.
Ultrasonic Flaw Detectors
Ultrasonic flaw detectors are widely used in the construction industry, they are used in non-destructive tests for checking defects under the surface of steel materials and welding joints. SCL provides calibration service on ultrasonic flaw detectors in accordance with the Group 2 tests of international standard BS EN ISO 22232-1:2020. Test items include transmitter pulse parameters, receiver frequency response and linearity of vertical display.
