Calibration of Stroboscope Using Counter and Photodiode

The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) has set up facilities for calibration of rotational speed measurement devices, such as tachometers and stroboscopes. The calibration method is by comparison either mechanically with a variable speed drive standard or electronically against pulse signals from a laser diode driven by a calibrated function generator. The calibration range is up to 120,000 revolutions per minute (r/min).
