Proficiency Testing Programmes

As the official custodian of reference standards for physical measurements in Hong Kong, China, SCL is in the best position to play the Proficiency Testing Programmes (PTP) role for both local and overseas testing and calibration laboratories.

In July 2015, SCL was firstly accredited for its PTP services (on electricity and magnetism) in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17043:2010. SCL is currently accredited to provide PTP services in electricity and magnetism, time and frequency, temperature and humidity, acoustics, photometry and radiometry, mass and related quantities and dimension.

The SCL is accredited to provide PTP services for the following instruments:

Area	Instruments
Electricity and magnetism	Digital multimeter, multifunction calibrator, power meter and oscilloscope.
Time and frequency	Stop watch.
Temperature and Humidity	Platinum resistance thermometer, thermocouple, liquid-in-glass thermometer, digital thermometer and relative humidity measurement instruments.
Acoustics	Sound calibrator, sound level meter and audiometer.
Photometry and radiometry	Illuminance meter.
Mass and related quantities	Standard weights, pipettes and electronics balances.
Dimension	Calliper and engineer's steel rule.

The Proficiency Testing fee is HK$ 6460 for each laboratory.
