Organised by the Joint School Science Exhibition Preparation Committee (JSSEPC) and co-presented by the Innovation and Technology Commission, the 51st Joint School Science Exhibition (JSSE) will be held in late August 2018. Providing a perfect platform for secondary school students to put science into practice, the annual event can arouse public interest in science and also foster the exchange of scientific knowledge among youngsters. The JSSE has been held successfully for the past 50 consecutive years and was well-attended with a record of over 30,000 visitors last year.
Under the theme of "Reflection" this year, the JSSEPC hopes to inspire the public to reflect on the bad habits in their daily lives and utilise science to alleviate their negative impacts, especially in the aspects of health, safety and the environment.
Following the Proposal Competition conducted in December 2017, the Project Holders’ Seminar was held on January 21 to allow the participants to familiarise themselves with this year's rules and judging criteria. They were encouraged to submit original proposals and apply their scientific knowledge in creative contexts. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to display and demonstrate their entries to the public in the 51st JSSE in late August. The Exhibition will also include exhibits from University Delegates and Overseas Delegates, a Kidsbond corner, a Science Theatre and more.
